Why Use Closed-Cell Foam Products?

Closed-cell foam offers several advantages over open-cell foam.  Closed cell foam provides superior hardness in a lightweight foam product that adds greater protection to whatever object is encases.  You could potentially walk over a sheet of closed-cell foam without breaking whatever it’s protecting underneath. That makes it a good material to create special cases, such as gun cases or cases for non-sterile medical equipment, where a rigid outer shell of closed foam encasing the item is ideal.

It also offers moisture and chemical resistant properties.  While not entirely waterproof, it can repel moisture and other liquids, making it useful in industrial and medical environments.  It’s also useful in many marine environments.
